Alisha runs schools into the ground with “poor academic performance and plummeting enrollment.”
While serving as a charter school leader, Alisha pushed sweeping changes that ran her schools into the ground – causing the schools she led to lose 75% of their students and half of their teachers during her tenure while averaging “mostly D’s” on the state’s report card for academic performance. The State Charter Commission even condemned her schools for “poor financial management and weak academic performance.” According to a parent, “the school has gone downhill” and another called the downward spiral an “educational travesty” under Alisha’s control. Alisha calls concerned and crying parents “disgruntled.” The founder and former leader of Alisha’s schools sounded the alarm stating: “The school is under performing right now because we have gotten away from our best practices.” “Sometimes there are substitutes, and sometimes there aren’t,” said a mother of a child who attended the schools at time. “The kids don’t have teachers. I feel like they’re not learning anything.” When parents continued to raise concerns, complaining of “unanswered emails” and “poor communication,” Alisha called the parents “disgruntled” and “an isolated group.” While Alisha was at the helm, “meetings between parent and school officials ended in screaming school leaders and crying parents.” Things hit a breaking point with exasperated parents complaining: “[Alisha] wasn’t communicating… at all.” Instead of facing the issues, Alisha abruptly resigned, abandoning students and parents. |
